BLOG # 1: Thoughts on Vocalizing

As I put this program together I realized there are several aspects of vocalizing that are interacting and playing out.

1.     Physical Exercise: The essence of Vocalize Yourself is a simple, 5-minute exercise system which in itself is healthy, fun, and beneficial to the user.  You walk, run, exercise at the gym, swim, play sports and do a lot of different exercise routines to stay in shape, tone your body, and keep yourself healthy.  How often do you exercise and tone your vocal system?

Yes, when you exercise you use your lungs, muscles, and sometimes your voice. But, do you really exercise your vocal system as a specific workout routine?

2.    Sound and Vibrational Healing:  In a deeper sense when you exercise your entire vocal system you are stimulating the Chakras or energy centers of the body.  Each of us “resonate” at unique sound wave frequencies and by using your own guttural intonations you stimulate your system to your own natural frequencies while blending with the external musical tones.

Sound and vibrational healing practitioners use crystals, chimes, crystal or singing bowl, tuning forks, and other processes to stimulate the vibrational frequencies in the body.  These are external stimulation of various parts of the body. Vocalize Yourself combines the external stimulation of a musical tone with you creating internal vibration through the intonation or chanting process.

I have noticed the interconnection between the major areas of the vocal system and the major glands of the Endocrine System.  The Vagus Nerve also flows from the cranial area, down through the throat, chest and into the abdominal region, again the major components of the vocal system.  Among many functions these systems affect mood, depression, inflammation, blood pressure, and stress.  Is it possible that exercising, opening, and strengthening the vocal system has positive effects on these major body systems as well?

3.    Vocalization is an on-going process of using and applying your vocal system as part of your daily living.  Like all physical exercise programs, you can do them once or twice and feel good.  But, the real benefits come from incorporating a vocalize program into your daily routine. To start, use the audio program to learn the exercise patterns and get comfortable with your own voice.  Then experiment with doing the patterns without the audio.  I do the patterns while on my daily walk. If I am in neighborhoods I do them at “low volume”.  In the shower, or in bodies of water like hot tubs, pools, lakes are fun places to vocalize.

4.    It’s a process of speaking out on events and issues of our daily lives. As you use this system and gain confidence in your own vocal expression you will have more confidence in all of your interaction with family, friends, work presentations, or performing.  I believe that Vocalizing Yourself as part of your daily routing has a positive impact on our vocal interactions with each other.

Enjoy!   Jeff
